FAQ

  • 1. What ages and populations do you work with?

I work with children of all ages—from newborns to teens—addressing a wide range of communication needs, including speech sound disorders, language delays, gestalt language processing, stuttering, and social communication challenges.

  • 2. Do you offer in-person or teletherapy sessions?

Yes! I provide both in-person services in the Kodiak area and teletherapy across Alaska. Teletherapy is a flexible, effective way to support families and schools in remote communities while keeping therapy engaging and personal.

  • 3. Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I accept private pay. I’m in the process of becoming an in-network provider with Tricare, Premera Blue (BCBS), and Medicaid. I’ll share updates as those credentialing steps are completed. In the mean time, I can provide superbills or documentation that families can submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.

  • 4. How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If your child is hard to understand, struggles to express ideas, seems behind in language compared to peers, or becomes frustrated when communicating, it might be time to schedule a consultation. I can provide a screening or full evaluation to determine if speech therapy would be helpful for your family.

  • 5. What happens during a speech therapy session?

Each session is individualized and play-based to keep your child motivated and confident. We’ll target your child’s goals through interactive activities, games, and evidence-based techniques designed to make learning fun and effective. For early intervention (birth to age 3), parent involvement is a key part of therapy. I work closely with families to model strategies, coach caregivers, and provide education so that communication growth continues naturally at home.

  • 6. How do I get started?

You can reach out directly through the contact form or by email to schedule a free consultation. We’ll talk about your concerns, screen or evaluate, go over therapy options, and create a plan that best supports your child’s communication needs.
